PRESS RELEASE 13TH June, 2008

Showing competitors have an extra opportunity to qualify for the inaugural Trailblazers Showing Championships at Stoneleigh Park on 26/27 July.

Qualifying rounds covering Trailblazers’ 22 in-hand and ridden show classes are to be run during the first day of the two-day extravaganza ahead of each championship final.
The move will provide an additional qualification chance to those who may have been unable to attend earlier First Rounds run at Trailblazers approved show centres across the country.

More show riders and handlers, plus their horses and ponies, can now experience the unique atmosphere at this friendly yet professionally run championships weekend.
The Showing Championships precedes Trailblazers’ well-established Show Jumping and Dressage Championships, sponsored by Spillers and also at Stoneleigh Park on 30/31 July (dressage) and 1-3 August (show jumping). Qualification has ceased for these disciplines; entries close on 2nd July.

Entry to qualifying rounds held during the Trailblazers Showing Championships is open to all and accepted on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 25 competitors contesting each class. Entries close on 15th July.

Under the usual Trailblazers Showing rules, the first four placed in every qualifying round will go forward to the relevant championship class. Remaining competitors will be invited to take part in consolation classes on the Sunday to win superb rosettes.

The entry fee to compete in classes over the two days is £36. Competitors lucky enough to qualify will need to purchase a Trailblazers ‘congratulations card’ at £12 and pay an additional £8 to bring them in line with existing pre-qualified competitors.

Everyone entering qualifying rounds can take advantage of a wonderful weekend away with their horse or pony in the prestigious setting of Stoneleigh Park. All Trailblazers Championships offer on-site stabling and catering, free camping (with showers and toilets provided), extensive exercise areas, a selection of trade stands, plus free evening discos for all the family.

“While the new Trailblazers Showing series is proving extremely popular, it is still developing. Some potential competitors may have been unaware of its existence, while others were unable to attend earlier First Rounds for various reasons including the very wet weather earlier this season,” said Trailblazers chairman Norman Bargh.

“Incorporating a qualifying round into the Championships will enable more competitors, their families and friends to get a taste of Trailblazers and experience what’s set to become a major showing occasion.”

Show jumping, dressage and showing First Rounds, the initial step to qualifying for the 2009 Trailblazers Championships via Second Rounds, take place at more than 50 show centres across the UK throughout the year.

The national series, sponsored by South Essex Insurance Brokers (SEIB), is designed to offer cost-effective, well-structured competitions for committed competitors in all three disciplines.
